Out of the Box: Writing Creatively

Characters flat?  Story going nowhere?  Readers saying “Ho, hum” and rubbing the sleep from their eyes?  It’s time to write yourself out of the box.  This course will appeal to the creative writer who is eager to learn more about the development of a story.  We will focus on using oral storytelling techniques, drama, and some of the “tricks” of great fiction to bring your own stories and poems to life.  Students will work collaboratively and share their creative products in a workshop format.  Come ready to think sideways, laugh seriously, and listen compassionately as we create a sumptuous feast of stories.
